Don’t make the mistake of believing that taking care of your skin is only for women over 35. The truth is that your skin is something that can carry the mistakes you made in your 20’s well into your 30’s – and onward.
Your skin is something that requires love and care as early as you can start providing it. You should start taking preventative measures as early on as your teen years if you can find this article in time!
If you’re already past your teen years and found this, don’t worry, all hope is not lost. The good news is that it’s never too late to start taking care of your skin. Take a look at 4 things you should be doing for your skin every day to address aging.
1. Exfoliate
It’s important that you get rid of old skin on your face to make room for the new. The less old debris that you have, the more that your skin will be able to rejuvenate itself. It’s important that you exfoliate using either a light scrub or liquid exfoliant.
Forget about abrasive scrubs that hurt your skin as you rub. All you’re doing is creating more damage. The idea is to lightly wash away dead skin cautiously. Over scrubbing will create abrasions that cause more damage than good.
Alternate exfoliating every few days so that your skin isn’t stripped too much. Too much of a good thing does exist in this case!
2. Use Retinol
One of the best ways to keep your skin looking young without a visit to a plastic surgeon is to use retinol. Retinol stimulates your skin and encourages collagen production. Over time, your wrinkles will become less noticeable. Just make sure that you’re using retinol on the days that you’re not exfoliating! Above all, make sure that you use your retinol products at night since it can make your skin extra vulnerable to sun damage.
3. Apply Sunscreen
Forget about only applying sunscreen when it’s a sunny day. Even cloudy days can take their toll on your skin. SPF 15 isn’t enough, so don’t even bother believing that your foundation with that minimal amount of added SPF is enough.
SPF 30 is the minimum that you should be applying under your makeup, and ideally, it should be even stronger! If you’re dying to be tan, opt for sunless tanner over the real thing! Your 60-year-old self will thank you!
4. Always Wash Your Face At Night
We get it; sometimes you’re so tired after a long day that the last thing you feel like doing is washing your face. There are days that you just want to collapse into bed. However, you’re not doing your skin any favors. It’s important to wash off all of your makeup and pollution that has accumulated.
These are the 4 things you should be doing for your skin.
