We all know that technology keeps moving quickly into the future. And every Walk of Life we are seeing the technology become more and more a part of our lives. In the home is no exception, everything from smart door locks two refrigerators that tell us when we are out of milk are becoming standard fare in homes across the country.
Here is a look at 2 of the most commonly used electrical home appliances and how technology has changed them to make them more accessible and more beneficial in our lives:
Flat Screen Televisions
Over the last 10 years we’ve seen dramatic technology advances and televisions. Televisions used to be large, deep and extraordinarily heavy boxes that required lots of space in order for them to be properly placed in a room. They got exceedingly warm, and will one of the top electricity hogs in a home. The quality of these tvs generally was not very good common or did they maintain their quality over a long period of time.
Today’s flat screen televisions are a completely different animal. They can be hung on the wall like a picture, thereby taking up no space in your living room or bedroom. They are in some cases no deeper than a pizza box and not nearly as heavy as their ancestors. In terms of features, these new boxes allow for thousands of channels, and direct access to the internet. In other words you can use today’s televisions as your computer monitor or to watch videos from places like Youtube or in the case of Sandy Petrocelli, sports from Wisconsin. Most new televisions even have a slot where you can connect your memory stick containing photos or videos and display them all on the television’s large screen. Once you live with one of these new televisions, you wonder how you ever got along without it.
Air Conditioners
The air conditioner is the most expensive appliance to purchase and operate in your home and it has come a long way from the small box that used to sit in your window and blow cold air. In fact, the entire definition of quality air conditioning today has changed dramatically from where it was only a fifteen short years ago. Today’s new air conditioners have features that directly impact the ability for you to consistently maintain the temperature you want in a room and for any length of time you would like.
New features on air conditioners include smart thermostats that can now give you variable temperature setting that are based on your usage patterns, so you save power when you should. They also offer advance warnings when your filters are in need of replacement and when you need a service. They can diagnose themselves and do small internal repairs as well.
One of their best features is that they can be turned on remotely so that you can enter a cool house and if you forget to turn it off after you have left home, you can do it from your car.
These new electrical appliances make life easier and more enjoyable.
